My research areas are environmental microbiology, agricultural microbiology, and probiotics. I study microorganisms, mainly bacteria and fungi, that can degrade and detoxify organopollutants and assess how they are likely to respond to ecosystem changes. I investigate agriculturally important bacteria and fungi for their properties to act as biocontrol agents and plant growth-promoting activities. I also explore bacteria with potential probiotic properties and the production of antimicrobial peptides from these bacteria. I am interested in studying bacteria and fungi and their intimate relationship with the environment, agriculture, and health.
